Mamatha

Mamatha lost her ailing mother when she was too small. Her father, Durjodhan, a casual labourer had been trying to make a living by buying and selling cows in the village market in Raigarh District of Orissa (Odisha) where they lived. He remarried and that added to the miseries of little Mamatha. She was often ignored and mistreated by her step mother. Poor care, ill treatment and harassment made her sick and develop a lot of serious health problems. A pastor who knew her brought her to Rose of Sharon at Chennai.

At Rose of Sharon, Mamatha was welcomed and given proper medical care. She was diagnosed of serious liver diseases. She responded well to the treatment and improved her health greatly. She joined a school and began to study well and also learn spiritual truths. She can sing over 100 Christian songs in Tamil, Telugu and English languages. She has memorized many verses from the Bible.

Ten years gone by after Mamatha had come to Rose of Sharon. She passed her class X examinations with good marks (87%) and stood school first. She has joined a school for Higher Secondary education and is hoping to pursue medical studies. Mamatha is happy that she was rescued and brought to Rose of Sharon where there are people to love and cherish her and help her knit new dreams about life.

Jyothi

When Jyothi was born, her father Sekhar abandoned her mother Jala for delivering a girl child. Her mother later got married to a man named Daniel. Daniel’s love for Jala did not last long and eventually she died, allegedly by committing suicide. Daniel could not love Jyothi either as she was not his child. Jyothi’s grandmother had taken care of her for some time and it turned be very difficult for her to care to provide for the child. A well wisher brought Jyothi to Rose of Sharon in the year 2000. At Rose of Sharon, she experienced love, care and compassion. Jyothi was sent to a good school and she also liked to go to Church along with other girls. She is doing her Class XII at a govt. School near the Home. Jyothi got saved and witnessed her faith in Christ through baptism. She is 18 years old and up on completion of the course, planning to do theological studies, with the desire of serving the Lord. At Rose of Sharon she is happy and is adding joy much joy and hope to others.
